Biography

Gillian Richardson is a multi-genre author of 17 books for young readers. Her short stories and articles on nature-related topics have been published in magazines such as Cricket and KNOW. She also writes children's book reviews for CM Magazine.  

Her nonfiction books have been honored with awards such as the 2010 American Institute of Physics Science Writing Award, the California Reading Association's 2013 Honor Award, and the 2013 de Bary Children's Science Book Award. Her work has been nominated for Ontario's Silver Birch Award, Alberta's Rocky Mountain Book Award and BC's Red Cedar Award.

A former Teacher-Librarian for 21 years in PEI and Saskatchewan, Gillian has been an instructor since 2002 for The Institute of Children's Literature's course, "Writing for Children and Teenagers". She is a founding member of the writing group, Children's Writers Round Robin of Saskatchewan, and returns to the prairies every spring and fall to attend their workshops and conferences. She now makes her home in the Shuswap region of BC where she is a member of the Shuswap Naturalist Club, and BC Nature.
