Gina&;s presentations are full of visuals and hands on experiences. Her background as a teacher, particularly a Montessori teacher, has prepared her to provide author presentations that are fun and educational. Prior to becoming a published author she was awarded the Governor General&;s Award for Excellence in Teaching Canadian History. Her past experience includes a degree in archaeology and diploma in journalism. Gina has successfully rolled many of her previous experiences into a highly successful archaeology adventure series--Reading the Bones was the first. These books are used nation-wide for teaching about First Nations, archaeology, history, and science. Her novel, Free as a Bird was nominated for the Governor General&;s Literary Award and five other national awards. Gina has long been associated with the international charity Right To Play. She helped to create a teacher resource and then in 2013 published a book about the important work of play and the organization, and is called, When Children Play.
