Biography

Irish Beth Maddock (nee Fell) was a columnist for two local newspapers, had stories published in Reader’s Digest Canada, and broadcasted on 100 Huntley Street, CHBC Television and CBC Radio.

She is a published poet, and has both performed in and directed plays and musical theater productions.

A playwright for a church drama production, her three part monologue “Tapestry” helped fund-raise over $1,000. So began the realization that she can help raise much needed funds for great causes with her creativity.

A member of SCBWI, Inscribe & The Word Guild, Irish would like to continue doing something about those ideas that get downloaded into her brain at 2 AM.

The Parent Heart of God Behind "The Great Carp Escape"

An inspirational fish "tail" based on a true story, "The Great Carp Escape" is also a quiet allegory about the gospel of Jesus and is based on Pslam 27:10.

"The Great Carp Escape" reflects a true experience the author had growing up on Okanagan Lake in Vernon, British Columbia back in the 1980"s.

The story has many wonderful themes but mostly, it is an allegory about how Jesus brings us, (the carp) from dead to living water.  As seen in the story, Jesus provides a way back from the things that do not sustain us to the living waters of life.  And that without God, we are all simply fish out of water.

In addition, this story promotes some very positive values to our kids.  It teaches young readers how to be a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves; to respect all creatures, no matter how ugly they may seem, and how knowledge and experience can bring about understanding and compassion.

"The Great Carp Escape" also shares the importance of community and how we can all love one another by coming together and serving one another.

What is more, this story tells children and adults alike, that God thinks they are wonderful.  This incredible love for us is truly, a message that we all need to hear, but none more so than our children.
