I had worked in film and teleision production in various positions (director, writer, editor) across Canada for over 10 years prior to becoming a professional writer in 1994. Since that point I have been freelance writing for most forms of media, from television scripts for drama and documentary to magazines, websites and bogs. During this time I have also been writing short stories and full length manuscripts while trying to get published. My first novel - Jacky the Brave (GSPH) - was published in 2013 and I am currently working on a sequel to that story as well as a short story collection.

Write what you know, then Write what you don't

The theme of my presentations is: Write what you know, then Write what you don&;t know. Starting with the unique point of view of each individual&;s experience and journey, then lifting from  the page and applying the "what if" principle. Looking for the possible story in every day occurances, or finding the hidden story in real life experiences. This theme is intended for middle grade and secondary students but fits well with aspiring adult writers as well.

Audience sizes up to 100 are preferencial as it enables adequate time fro Q & A. A projector would be required as I bring my own laptop, and a microphone if the room is large. I will supply books unless the local store is willing to provide them for sale.
