Star Spider is a writer from Toronto, Canada and has recently published her debut, Past Tense, with HarperCollins Canada. Star’s stories deal with mental health and LGBTQ themes and she is a student of psychology at Ryerson University.

In 2015 Star was named runner up in the Conville & Walsh Word of Mouth Prize for her novel Past Tense. She was long listed for both the 2014 CBC Creative Nonfiction Prize and the Raymond Carver Short Story Contest. She was a 2013 winner of the Fringe Contest at Eden Mills Writer’s Festival as well as winning an honourable mention in the Friends of Merril Short Story Contest 2014.  She was also shortlisted for the Room Magazine 2014 Writing Contest, as well as winning 3rd place in the Jenny Magazine sci-fi short story contest.

Star’s short stories and poems can be found in many places including Grain Magazine, A cappella Zoo, Necessary Fiction, Flyleaf Journal, Gone Lawn & Apeiron Review.
