Biography

Susan Margaret Chapman has been a teacher-librarian and a primary teacher in both Toronto and Markham, Ontario. She has taught teacher-librarians in East Africa, and worked for a summer in the Harrods Department Store library in London, England. She has always been interested in storytelling, and both her picture books include aspects of that.

"Too Much Noise in the Library" is a funny story based on an old folktale about the idea that things could always be worse. It incorporates a lot of participation and repetition.

"The Old Ways" is about a contemporary Inuit boy who is not interested in his grandparents'  "old ways" or in the old stories, until their snowmobile breaks down in a storm. It had a starred review in the CCBC Best books of the year, Spring 2015.
